Aongatete Lodge
Every even year (2012, 2014, 2016...) our school enjoys a 5 day camping experience in the beautiful
Kaimai Mamaku Forest Park, midway between Tauranga and Katikati. The
programme aims to engage students in first hand experiences
that assists them in developing confidence, a sense of adventure and an
attitude of responsibility, particular toward their own and other's
safety. Our
students have access to rivers, bush, ocean environments and mountains.
These areas are a part of their playground so they need to have a set
of basic skills and knowledge to use these safely. A
week at Aongatete opens these worlds and increases their awareness of
the magnificent resources we have in our own backyard.
We project the cost of the 2012 camping programme to be in the range of $160 - $180. This covers everything - all transport, food, accommodation and activity costs.
Each class will also need parents willingly to participate in the camping programme. Please attend the February Meet the Teacher evenings for further information.
