My name is Eric Karshagen (Mr. K.) and I currently teach the Year 9 class. I have been a teacher for almost 30 years and this will be my sixth year at Berkley. I emigrated to NZ from South Africa in 2005 and settled in Waikato, where I have continued my teaching career.

Things that brighten up my days are fishing, metal detecting, garage saling and welding metal sculptures (... and hard working students of course.) The most rewarding part of teaching for me is when 5-20 years from now, past students make contact on social media, remembering all the good times that we had shared. That is when I know that I have made a difference!

A good balance between family and school commitments is important to me, and I believe to the students under my care as well, to enable them to have a good foundation to be successful, inside and outside of school life.

Welcome to the Berkley family and remember that here, at our school, our door is always open for a friendly chat.
