I trust you had a restful summer break, and managed to find some sunshine. My name is Ms Reeve and I am looking forward to sharing your learning journey with you and your whānau this year as part of the Berkley Normal Middle School family.
In our first few weeks together we will be developing a classroom culture to support a safe, fun and respectful learning environment so we can have a successful year in Room 24, achieving your learning goals while you are a student at BNMS.
I am an experienced classroom teacher, having taught for nearly 11 years across all ages from New Entrants to Year 8, and I’ve taught in Hamilton, Matamata, Auckland and Sydney, Australia! I’ve also had some other interesting jobs in between teaching, such as Remedial Massage Therapist, Corporate Account Manager for mobile phone companies, Real Estate Sales Manager, crochet instructor and Yarn store owner! So as you can see I have done all sorts of other jobs, and all of those careers have been successful as a result of my own teachers encouraging me to follow my interests, work hard and take advantage of new opportunities.
My own family consists of my daughters Charlotte (8) Lucy (15), my son Callum (18) and my partner Craig. I have some interesting hobbies (you’ll have to wait until our first week of school to learn what they are!) and enjoy hanging out with friends and family. I also LOVE reading and rock music.
If you are currently reading something interesting that you’d like to bring to school on your first day, or you have a new book that you’re keen to start, please bring it along! Also, think of a couple of your favourite songs you’d like to add to our Room 24 Spotify playlist and let me know when you come back to school next week. But most importantly, bring your positive and inquisitive attitude and your smile.
I am eager to learn more about you, and to work alongside you and your whānau in 2023.
