My name is Mr Maclennan and I am excited to be back in the performing arts space teaching dance and drama again. 2021 is my fourth year teaching at Berkley, and my 15th year specialising in teaching Year 7/8 students. This year I also have the responsibilities of team leader of the Performing Arts, as well as leading the school production, Aladdin Jr.

I have a huge passion for the Performing Arts. I have enjoyed directing large casts of over 150+ young people for the past 13 years and now own and run my own youth theatre company. Last year I got married in May (after lockdown was lifted). My wife and I have a 15 year old son who shares my love of musical theatre. I attended South Seas Film and Television School when I left high school, where I majored in on screen acting, presenting/interviewing and directing/producing and have appeared on TV in a number of different local TV shows. I also have a huge passion for gymnastics and was once in pre-training for the Commonwealth Games, when I was a youngster.

Being able to provide an array of performing arts opportunities and experiences for our learners is a true perk of teaching at Berkley and I enjoy watching our students develop and gain confidence throughout their journey here.

Allowing our students to "take up the challenge" and push their own personal limits and boundaries in the world of performance is truly rewarding. Watching them achieve their potential and have moments of elation is what motivates me to make the programme interesting and fun for each and every student.
