Leonie Belk
Hi there, I’m Ms Belk, and I joined the Berkley team in 2024.
Let me tell you a little about myself. I am a country girl at heart, growing up on hill country farms on the East Coast. I absolutely love the outdoors and have a deep affinity for animals - these passions are shared with my seventeen-year-old daughter. Before studying to become a teacher, I travelled New Zealand riding horses competing in the equestrian discipline of show jumping. It was coaching in this sport that developed my passion and interest in teaching.
I love sport and competition. When I was younger, I represented NZ in netball as part of the NZ Young International Team. I now enjoy coaching - I love to see people work hard towards achieving their goals.
In the classroom, I challenge my students to be the best they can be in all areas of their schooling, and hope that transfers into all facets of their lives. Quality values and high expectations are a big part of the culture in my classroom, along with recognising the uniqueness that each individual brings to add to that. I am truely excited about the year ahead in Mahi Tahi.
