The experience matters as much as the result.

Students do their best when players, coaches, officials and supporters help create a safe, inclusive and encouraging sporting environment.

  • Value effort, enjoyment and growth—not only winning.
  • Use positive, respectful language on and off the field.
  • Show fairness, humility and pride when representing Berkley.
  • Help every participant feel supported and keen to return.

For students and whānau

Good to know

Each sport has different timing, costs, selection requirements and family commitments. Confirm current details before making plans.

How does my child find out what is available?

Current opportunities are shared at school and through the Daily Informer. Offerings can change by term depending on facilities, staffing, coaching and student interest.

Does a student need experience to join in?

No. Lunchtime promotions and many school activities welcome beginners. Representative teams may use trials or other selection processes where places are limited.

How do trials and registrations work?

Instructions are provided for each opportunity. Some competitions require the school to complete registration, so families should follow the published process rather than registering independently.

Are there costs or travel requirements?

These vary between sports and events. Families receive confirmed information about fees, uniforms, transport, accommodation and parent support before committing.

How can whānau support sport at Berkley?

Encourage effort and enjoyment, model positive sideline behaviour and respond to requests for coaching, managing, transport or event support when you are able.
