OUTDOOR EDUCATION
Experiences students remember.
Education outside the classroom gives students the chance to step beyond familiar routines, try new activities, work with others and discover what they are capable of. These experiences help students build confidence, resilience, responsibility, leadership and friendships that last.
NGĀUTAHOA LODGE CAMP
Every even year, Berkley students take part in a three-day camping experience at Ngāutuhoa Lodge in the Kaimai-Mamaku Forest Park. Students experience activities such as bushwalking, river challenges, abseiling, survival skills and outdoor teamwork.
NEW HORIZONS
Every odd year, Berkley’s New Horizons programme gives students the chance to choose from a wide range of experiences over three days, including outdoor adventure, visual art, acting, cycling, rock climbing, movie making and other opportunities.
HILLARY OUTDOORS
Each year, a group of students may have the opportunity to attend Hillary Outdoors, where they experience challenging outdoor activities in environments such as the Coromandel or Tongariro.
WHY IT MATTERS
Outdoor education helps students build confidence, work with others, take responsibility, step outside their comfort zone, discover new strengths and show the school values in action.
