Berkley Normal Middle School

Open Morning Cancelled - Friday 28 January

2022 First Day - Term 1

We look forward to welcoming all new and returning students to Berkley on: Tuesday 1 February 2022 starting at 8:45am.

The following information is a summary of the things you will need to remember to successfully start 2022 under the Covid 19 RED Alert level restrictions.

All students will need to wear a mask while working inside.
Students are to be dropped off at Mullane Street.
Parents are asked to remain off site under COVID Alert Red restrictions.  If you need to come onsite for any reason, please ensure that you come via the office and sign in.

You would have seen from a previous post that our 2022 School Open Day has now been cancelled due to COVID Alert Red restrictions. On the first day, students will need to go straight to  classrooms.  There will be teachers around the school in yellow vests to support you to find your way around Berkley.

2022 bus routes will be on our school website from Thursday 12.00pm. Please take time to look at these and identify the correct route for your child. There will be a meeting on the first day at 2.00pm to support students travelling on a bus.
GOBUS is the new school bus provider this year and runs all the routes for students coming to school by bus. Please also feel free to contact them if you have any questions.

Students - please remember your school uniform PE gear and sunhat.  Your 2022 school stationery will be already waiting for you in your classroom. Most importantly, we are looking forward to seeing your smiling faces on the first day of 2022.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact the school office or senior leadership team. Contact information is on our website:

Providing pathways for students to mature into young people.

Berkley is proud to be an authorised International Baccalaureate (IB) School. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) prepares students to become active, caring, lifelong learners who demonstrate respect for themselves and others, and have the capacity to participate in the world around them. It focuses on the development of the whole child. The IB Learner Profile attributes and the PYP transdisciplinary themes, approaches to learning, concepts and action, enables students to learn and grow with confidence and rise to a variety of academic challenges.

Berkley offers high quality educational programmes that engage Year 7-9 learners in a safe and supportive environment. Our teachers work hard to provide students with a connected curriculum where learning is fun and meaningful. Our school vision is for our learners to take up the challenge and get involved in all the many academic, cultural, sporting and social opportunities on offer. 2022 will see the return of our biennial school camp to Aongatete Lodge. This is an exciting opportunity for our Berkley learners to explore New Zealand's bush and rivers and take up the many challenges this camp offers.
