My name is Mr Trass and I am the Digitech teacher at Berkley. I have been a teacher for 16 years, and prior to teaching, worked in the IT industry for 10. I have a Bachelor of Information Technology and Master of Digital Education. My main areas of expertise are in programming and data. I also enjoy teaching game and web development. I love Digital Technology and I enjoy sharing that passion with students.
My teaching philosophy is all about experiencing learning hands-on, with clear links back to fundamental knowledge. I am focused on what students need to know and be able to do with Digital Technology. I have taught extensively at Cambridge, NCEA and Scholarship level, with a clear understanding of the curriculum and what students need as they prepare for secondary school.
A bit about me … I grew up in Tūranganui-a-Kiwa Gisborne where I spent most of my youth out on the water swimming, sailing and surf lifesaving. These days my hobbies mostly involve music and cars. I have two teenage sons at secondary school and a stepdaughter who is in her final year of ECE training. I have two cats, Nala and Scarlet, and a dog named Zeus. Zeus loves going for river walks and cruising around in cars.
