Nga mihi nui ki a koutou. Greetings Parents/Whānau and members of our Berkley community.
As week two draws to a close, I would like to acknowledge our learning community for the smooth start to our 2022 school year. Our learning programmes are already in full swing and Berkley classrooms are hives of rich learning activities. Over the next few weeks, all Berkley learners will be invited to select options for our new ‘take up the challenge sessions’. This new initiative will include students selecting one compulsory language and other activities that will be new or of high interest to them.
Our camp programme at Aongatete Lodge begins in week 4. It is a large undertaking to organise this outdoor education programme and we thank all parents/whanau for their support with this. Also a big thank you to those parents/caregivers who will be giving their time to assist as a parent helper. Your ongoing support of our school is invaluable and you are very much appreciated. A reminder that camp meeting for parents attending camp is on Wednesday 16 February at 6.00pm in your child’s classroom.
Masterpiece Photography will be at Berkley on Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 February. Students will be able to purchase a class photo and an individual portrait. (Note - this is NOT compulsory). Both class and portrait photos are available online through Masterpiece photography. A flyer with logon details will come home with your child on photo day.
At Berkley we offer several ways that parents can keep fully informed. Two of the most successful ways that we can effectively communicate with our families is through the use of Facebook and our School App messages. This helps us to push notifications through to your cell phones so that you are constantly kept up to date with the events and notices as they happen here at Berkley. We would encourage you to like us on Facebook and download our school app if you have not already done so. To download the app, go to - iTunes (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).
The App name is SchoolAppsNZ. Once in the app you can search and select "Berkley Normal Middle School" as your preferred school.
Other ways that you can keep informed are through the daily informer and our school website (berkley.school.nz).
