Kia ora Whānau,

With the news that all of New Zealand (except Auckland) moves into DELTA Alert Level 2 at 11:59pm tonight, we are looking forward to welcoming back students and staff to school on Thursday 9 September. Like you, we are looking forward to getting on with face-to-face learning as soon as possible. Thursday will be a Day 4 with the normal timetable of Tech/Arts, Performing Arts, Teaming and Science all underway.

It is important that all children stay home if they are unwell. If for any reason you are not expecting your child to return to onsite learning on Thursday 9 September, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing your classroom teacher directly, calling the school office (07 856 6537) or using the ‘Report an Absence’ button on the Berkley website.

We are aware that many students will be excited about returning to school and seeing their friends. To avoid large gatherings, we ask that learners go straight to their classrooms on arrival at school on Thursday and Friday morning to prepare for the day ahead. We ask parents and caregivers to support us by observing the normal Berkley entry and existing protocols - Pick up and drop offs, walkers, students on scooters and bikes to enter the school via Mullane Street; Buses will resume pick up and drop offs using the Berkley Ave bus bay.

Tomorrow teachers will be sending out an email to welcome students back to school with details of the Alert Level 2 protocols. Parents and caregivers, please look out for this email and take time to talk through the requirements with your child before school begins on Thursday.

Finally, I want to extend a huge thank you to every member of our community for the work that has been done to get on top of this outbreak. Our collective efforts have made it possible to be back onsite this week. My thoughts are also with our Auckland colleagues and friends who continue at Alert Level 4. Let's continue to follow the guidelines, stay safe, stay well and support our local businesses.
