Berkley staff have met today to prepare for our return to Term 4 next week. Over the next few days teachers will be sending out emails to welcome students back to term 4 and to share details of distance learning programmes. We are looking forward to hearing about what everyone has been up to during the Alert Level 3 term break.

Thank you to those parents and caregivers who have already been in touch to let us know that their child will need to be on site at Alert Level 3 next week. We are now in the position to share the following additional Alert Level 3 requirements with you:

Distance learning has been confirmed for a minimum of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

As per the new regulations, all staff (including teachers, support staff and cleaners) returning to work on site at Alert level 3, will have received a COVID test before they return to work.

All Year 9 students and staff onsite are required to wear a mask while at school.

All students aged 12 years and older are now required to wear a mask on both public and Ministry of Education buses.

We have been informed that students living in Alert Level 2 areas will be unlikely to gain an exemption to cross over the border to attend school.

To ensure that we have appropriate numbers of staff to support onsite learning next week, please make contact with your classroom teacher ASAP if your child is needing to return to onsite learning at school on Monday.

Like you, we will be waiting for the Government's update on Monday 18 October and will be in touch with further information after that briefing. This will include details of how we will share Berkley devices to those households that need them should Alert Level 3 be extended.

Stay safe, be kind, and together we will get through this.
