COVID-19 Community Update

Date: 10 Nov 2021

10 November 2021

Kia ora Berkley whanau,

Today the Education Minister, Chris Hipkins, announced the return to face-to-face learning from Wednesday 17 November 2021. Along with Berkley staff, I am very excited about the opportunity to welcome Berkley learners back onsite for the final few weeks of the year.

Alongside feelings of excitement, it is likely that students and caregivers will also have questions about the return to face-to-face learning given the current COVID-19 environment. As outlined in the announcement today, the return to school will come with a range of health and safety measures such as the wearing of masks, increased ventilation in classrooms and distancing between groups of students. Over the next few days we expect to receive further public health advice and will finalise the finer details about how we plan to minimise risk as we return to onsite learning.

Please keep an eye out for updates from me between now and next Wednesday, which will outline specific details of how Berkley will operate under the new guidelines. Until then, except for those already part of a school bubble, school remains closed and distance learning will continue.

Ngā mihi,

Nathan Leith

Principal
