Welcome

My name is Tim Howard and I am the team leader for Te Aroha and teacher in Room 8. I have a 'good number' of years under my teaching belt now! This is my 5th year at Berkley, spending the previous 10 years as Principal in a country school just out of Ngaruawahia.

My family is extremely important to me and being able to play a bigger part in my sons' lives as they went through their teen years was one of the key reasons I left principalship and came back into town. Another key reason was that I went into teaching too work alongside the students and as a principal I was missing the classroom too much!!

It is a privilege to be able to work alongside the students and help them achieve their goals and progress their learning.

I am South Island born spending my primary school years firstly in Christchurch and then Dunedin. However my secondary school years were just down the road at Hillcrest High. I then went on to train as a teacher at Waikato University.

I've turned into a bit of a Futsal fanatic having my own grounding in football. I believe that Futsal is a brilliant way to develop skills for all footballers and with 8x more contact with the ball and no cancellations due to weather or field conditions (it's played indoors) it's a bit of a 'no brainer' for anyone interested in playing futsal or football.

The emerging adolescent years are so important and I look forward to the opportunity to be part of that with you and your child should you choose to enrol at Berkley.
